To achieve the full optic fiber training experience the VanGuard Data OTDR Emulator also contains a built-in Loss Test Set Emulator as a virtual Optical Light source and Power Meter.

The Loss Test Set connects to the same user defined virtual fiber as the OTDR Emulator and measures the insertion loss across multiple wavelengths. The ability to complete full Insertion Loss - Link Loss measurements is unique to the VanGuard Data system and is a powerful facility to offer during optical network or OTDR training courses. The simulation is so realistic that the student needs to wait for stabilisation of the meters before being able to take an accurate result.
